The magical limit of twenty meters is getting closer and closer for Jessica Schilder. The 23-year-old Volendam shot the bullet to 19.84 meters at the Diamond League in Chorzów on Saturday. With this she again improved her personal and Dutch record by seven centimeters.
The Volendamse hit the bullet to 19.84 meters on her second attempt. That distance earned Schilder the silver in Chorzów. Chase Ealey from America came to 20.38 meters and won. The third place went to Sarah Mitton.

It was also a beautiful afternoon in Chorzów for Tony van Diepen. The athlete from Heerhugowaard finished third in the 800 meters for men. He crossed the line after 1:45.80 and narrowly trumped Spaniard Adrián Ben (1:45.89). Van Diepen finished after the Kenyans Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir (1:45.72) and Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich (1:45.76).
The Diamond League matches in Poland were the last showdown for the European Athletics Championships in Munich, Germany, for Schilder and Van Diepen. They will be held from August 15 to 21.
