Fan grabs Sopranos souvenir for $82,000

The final episode of “The Sopranos” may not be the best series ending of all time (there are other contenders), but the majority of viewers who happily followed HBO’s TV event were happy with the ending, which takes place in a diner.

Now a lucky fan of the Mafia series has bought an important prop from the final minutes of the episode “Made In America” for just over $80,000. He bought the table and seats, as well as the divider that reads “This seat is reserved for the Sopranos family.”

Everything is included except the jukebox

The owners of Holsten’s Ice Cream Shop in Broomfield, NJ, put the ice cream shop from the 2007 series finale up for auction last Wednesday (February 28) as the 88-year-old shop is currently undergoing remodeling. After four days on eBay, the bidding war ended on Monday (March 4) at $82,600.

There is one downside, however: the table jukebox used in the scene is not included.

The owners of Holsten’s indicated in a social media post aimed at raising awareness of the auction that they had not originally planned to sell the furnishings-turned-tourist attraction, but more or less decided to do so due to their age and after numerous repairs were forced. “Of course we don’t want to do that, but it has reached a point where it could collapse and we have to think about the safety of our guests first,” it says about the almost 80-year-old furniture.

In recent years, entire bus tours have come to the diner on weekends just for the chance to sit in the famous seats.

“The Sopranos” is consistently ranked among the top 5 best series of all time by critics. Along with “The Wire”, the series is considered to be the initial spark of a golden phase of series television, which continues to this day and continues to set the bar for fictional serial material very high. The “Sopranos” ended with a final meal, so to speak, for main character Tony Soprano, who finds himself surrounded by several violent men in the store. What happened next was left to the imagination of the audience.
