When sport becomes a minor matter!

In Leverkusen’s 3-0 win over Schalke, there was a “medical emergency” shortly before the final whistle. On the south stand in Block S2, a fan had to be resuscitated by the emergency doctor. After the game, however, the sad news: the man, apparently a Schalke fan, has died!

Schalke writes on Twitter: “Football takes a backseat today. A spectator collapsed in the south curve during the game. Unfortunately, all attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. We send our heartfelt condolences to the family. Our thoughts are with you.”

The fan camps of both clubs stopped providing support during the game. Schalke wrote: “Due to a medical emergency on the south stand, both fan camps have stopped supporting. Thank you for your restraint. We wish all the best!”

To the game: After beating FC Bayern 2-1 before the international break, Leverkusen also wins at Schalke. With the sixth competitive win in a row, Leverkusen is only one point behind Frankfurt and sixth place in the Europa League in the Bundesliga.

And Florian Wirtz (19) shows a perfect reaction to the DFB whistle!

The youngster had to leave the field in the 32nd minute due to his poor performance in the 2-3 international match against Belgium during the week. But you don’t notice that in the midfielder a few days later.

61 minutes: With a solo run, Wirtz lets several Schalke players stand and puts the ball past Fährmann on the right with the pike – the interim 2-0.

Frimpong had given the Werkself the lead beforehand (50′) after Fährmann was able to save several top-class players from the guests in the first half and prevent them from going behind. Substitute Azmoun made it 3-0 (90+2) in added time.

Leverkusen, who are about to sign the Brazilian Arthur, are already in seventh place in the conference league, but for Schalke it was an untimely setback.

Just before the fateful games in the next two weeks against the basement children Hoffenheim (April 9th) and Hertha (April 14th), the royal blue conceded the first bankruptcy in the second half of the season.

The only small consolation: Due to the defeat of Stuttgart (0:3 at Union Berlin), Schalke does not travel to the showdown in Hoffenheim (15th place) as the bottom of the table.
