As is well known, David Lynch worked on a kind of series for Netflix with the working title “Unrecorded Night” before his death. A new “Twin Peaks”? A radical or conciliatory retirement work? Only a few know what the director imagined, but soon the project will come to life.

As his daughter Jennifer Lynch confirmed “The Times”, the family plans to publish the script and thus the final ideas of the universal artist.

“None of us ever came up with the idea that his series could be realized by others,” said Lynch, who is even a director (“Boxing Helena”). “But we are considering offering them in a different, published form so that people can deal with their ideas. It would be very sad if people couldn’t see them.”

David Lynch already had the green light from Netflix

For a long time there was uncertainty about the deal between David Lynch and Netflix. After the “Mulholland Drive” director died in January due to a cardiac arrest as a result of his serious lung disease, Netflix-CEO Ted Sarandos spoke plain text.

Accordingly, Lynch had pitched a mini series that the streamer also accepted. “We will always dream of what would have been possible,” Sarandos concluded his thoughts. “It was planned as a David Lynch production, so full of secrets and risks, but we wanted to go this creative journey with this genius.”

The Corona pandemic and Lynchs deteriorating state of health (which he only made public last year) meant that “Unrecorded Night” remained unmatched.

In his last big interview, however, the director confirmed that he had been looking for all means and paths in order to somehow work on it from home. Initial filming, however, no longer took place. Sarandos: “But we (David Lynch) made it clear that we were all there as soon as he was able to do so.”

There have already been talks with Kyle, Laura and Naomi

Although a casting was still afar, Jennifer Lynch believes that her father would have put again on well -known names: “I am sure that Kyle [MacLachlan] would have been. And Laura [Dern] and Naomi [Watts].. ” Lynch continued: “He loved working with his friends.”

At the end of November, according to “Deadline”, Naomi Watts spoke in a conversation about lunch with Lynch and Dern in his property. The director was already very struck, but the best atmosphere. And he would have assured her to continue to turn. “Laura and I said: ‘You can do it! You can work from the caravan.’ He was far from at the end.

While Mark Frost, co-creator of “Twin Peaks”, recently made it clear that he had also discussed with Lynch about a fourth season of the cult series, his daughter also clarified that, despite great problems with breathing, her father worked on his archives until his last day of life.

In other words: In addition to the publication of the “Unrecorded Night” script, other previously unknown works from the artist’s fund of the artist could see the light of day.
