Family breaks years of silence after tragic loss of their Vivian (3) in tsunami: ‘She is always with us’

Helena and her sons Bastiaan and Matthew survived the tsunami in Thailand on Boxing Day in 2004. But in the tidal waves they lost daughter and sister Vivian (3). The disaster was rarely discussed in the family for almost twenty years. Now they are telling their story together for the first time. “I really wanted to see her, but everyone said it was better if I didn’t go.”
