Last season, SC Freiburg qualified for the Europa League. The start of the new season now failed completely.
The start of the season is anything but according to plan: after two match days, SC Freiburg is at the end of the Bundesliga table. Two defeats, seven goals and only two own goals-the Europa League participant finds himself in a difficult situation early in the season.
“We have been spoiled for the past few years,” said captain Christian Günter after the 1: 4 (0: 1) at the promoted 1. FC Köln. Above all, cohesion is now asked about the latest setbacks: “Now we got the face twice, now we have to see that we stand together and come out together.”

Coach Julian Schuster, who was recently awarded the coach of the year, cleared the order for the coming weeks. “The basis for winning games in the Bundesliga is the defensive,” said the 40-year-old. The team had awarded this in the past and made it successful.
