Using punk and funk, the band from Düsseldorf and Wuppertal created a style without which the Neue Deutsche Welle would be difficult to imagine. Fehlfarben have only had one problem since they were founded in 1979: their debut album “Monarchy and Everyday Life” (1980) is so good that no one can beat it. Pieces like “One Year (It’s Going Forward)”, “Paul is dead” and “Grey Veil” were the antidote to the bourgeois uniformity of the old Federal Republic. Since then, singer Peter Hein and Co. have shown time and again that they have not lost any of their rebellious sound, most recently on the fabulous record “?0??” (2022).
