Even Tot Hier is back on the air and that means that politicians are again under fire and celebrities are being ridiculed. Dries Roelvink is the first new victim…
Not Arjen Lubach, but the men of Even Tot Hier now make the most watched and therefore most important satirical TV show in the country. The new season started last night and the main subject was Pieter Omtzigt. The gentlemen attack him hard on the broadcast because he is said to be too conservative.
Attack on Pieter
Actually, Omtzigt is just a kind of SGP-light, the gentlemen want to say. Last year he voted against scrapping the mandatory five-day reflection period for abortion. “That in itself is not surprising because for Pieter, five days’ reflection time is still the fastest decision he has ever made,” sneers Jeroen Woe.
Jeroen also notes that it is ‘strange’ that Omtzigt ‘doesn’t really like refugees’: “Because Pieter doesn’t want to go to the Torentje, because he finds it difficult to leave his family behind in Enschede.”
Colleague Niels van der Laan: “But leaving your family in Syria? That’s no problem for Pieter! Thats crazy.”
Sneak at Dries
It was also about Omtzigt’s election manifesto. Journalists were given a very short time to view the document just before its presentation, namely seven minutes, the men said. According to them, there was hardly any room to question him properly at that moment.
Niels then makes quite a mockery of one of our folk singers: “The only thing you can read in seven minutes is Dries Roelvink’s autobiography. Go, and done. Then you still have time left!”
‘Do not feel like!’
Later in the broadcast, Even Tot Hier comes with a nod to the RTL Election Debate. The party leaders had to choose in The Smartest Person style which celebrity they wanted to be asked a question by. “Yes, I have seen that in serious programs. Then this has to be the case, because otherwise you don’t belong, right?” says Jeroen.
However, Niels doesn’t feel like it at all. “Should I choose someone? One of these people? Dries Roelvink?!”
Then the real Dries Roelvink reads out a question.
Supporting role for Patty
One of the other questioners is Patty Brard, but it is no longer her turn. Niels: “Patty Brard? No no no! I don’t want this at all! We’re not going to do this! I’m not an RTL Election Debate, am I? I’m an adult, right?! Come on, dude! We’re not going to do this. I do not want this! Away, away celebrities!”
Patty: “But what do you mean?!”
Niels: “Because I don’t like it, Patty!”
Patty then walks away angrily: “It’s not for nothing that I’m standing here in my leopard suit in my leopard room! I’ll just send an invoice!”
