Valtteri Bottas didn’t hide behind explanations after qualifying at the Singapore GP.
16th place and qualifying already in the opening section was a big disappointment.
– In changing conditions (lap) timing is important. Now the timing didn’t hit at all. When I had to drive the fastest lap, the tires were gone. Should have stopped for new tires. When he realized it, it was already too late, Bottas bewitched Viaplay.
Bottas, like the others, went around the track diligently, but at the h-moment the others made a better lap.
– The conditions were the same for everyone. As I said, timing went into this time trial.
Known as a strong time trialist, Bottas has drifted into a small trough. The choir has called in the opening section in the last four races a sad three times.
Bottas expected more from qualifying. The regulations of the car forbid it.
– Dry weather with setup we left. We thought it would be dry at the end of qualifying, but we didn’t get there, Bottas regretted.
The Finn was right. The last section was run on a dry track. At that point, however, Bottas had already taken off his driving overalls.
