Ferrari breaks the Red Bull streak that lasted from Imola, but the only smile is Carlos Sainz, who in GP number 150 manages to dispel the taboo of victory. But the Cavallino’s decision to leave Charles Leclerc on the track, on the occasion of the Safety Car caused by the retirement of Esteban Ocon, with hard tires, is perplexing, while the teammate, followed by Hamilton and Perez stopped to mount the soft tires. That move left the Monegasque helpless, causing him to miss a great opportunity to recover heavy points to a Max Verstappen, whose race became an ordeal after just 12 laps. Max, in the lead, had a puncture but once back on track he realized that the car was irreparably damaged and finished only seventh.

very long race

A very long race, interrupted immediately after the start due to the frightening accident that sent Alex Albon to the hospital and made fear for Guanyu Zhou who overturned and flew over the tire barriers, crashing into the protective nets. The Halo saved his life. The race resumed with just 17 cars an hour later. And the drivers immediately battled with Leclerc who dangerously entered Perez’s Red Bull, forced to an early pit stop. Sainz drove up to the 11th lap when pressed by Max he finished wide, it seemed the start of another Red Bull Sunday and instead Max immediately went into crisis, the Spaniard got his head back and there a situation occurred delicate because with Hamilton’s push behind him, Leclerc began to ask for space: “I’m f .. ,, the race”.

sacrifice

And so after the lap of the pit stops, it was decided to ask the Spaniard a sacrifice. Up to the Safety Car in Maranello they cherished the possibility of a double despite the efforts of the seven-time world champion. Then in the last 12 laps there was a second race: and at the end also in the Red Bull garage they breathed a sigh of relief, because Max, defending the seventh place in the final from Schumi, contained the loss. And now he leads the standings with 34 points over Perez, second, thanks to perfect strategy and 43 over Leclerc. Which has only 11 points over Sainz. Which obviously will complicate the management of the Cavallino riders. Silverstone will also be remembered by Schumi’s son who, thanks to the many retirements, managed to score points for the first time.
