The Austrian manager will not continue his experience with Red Bull due to some decisions taken without consulting the team’s top management, in addition to the Antonelli case in Qatar
An important chapter is about to close at the top of Red Bull. According to what they report de Limburger and the TelegraphHelmut Marko and the Austrian team would now be at loggerheads. The former Brm and McLaren driver will leave Red Bull at the end of 2025 after 20 years. The historic consultant of the Milton Keynes team had already come under fire in recent days for comments made to Kimi Antonelli after the Qatar Grand Prix. The current management of Red Bull, led by CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, has decided to put an end to the relationship with Marko.
the reasons for the breakup

A heavy air was already in the air after the exit of Christian Horner in July, also with 20 years behind him at Red Bull. Among the reasons behind the split between the team and Marko were decisions taken in total autonomy without agreement with the team. The former driver would have made Arvid Lindblad sign with Racing Bulls without having first shared the situation with members of the Red Bull management, but not only that. Alex Dunne, an Irish driver who left McLaren a few months ago, should now be part of the team’s junior program despite the company management’s refusal. The icing on the cake is the accusation that Kimi Antonelli favored Lando Norris on the last lap of the Qatar Grand Prix. Then came the apologies from both Red Bull and the Austrian manager, but the damage to the image had already been done.

The team, regardless of the reasons, will still lose a piece of history. From 1999 onwards, Marko operated at Red Bull, transforming his Formula 3000 team, RSM Marko, into the Red Bull Junior Team and starting the driver development program that would bring success to champions such as Vettel and Verstappen. Until this year, Marko has been a consultant to all Red Bull-owned Formula 1 teams, including Red Bull Racing since its debut season in 2005, along with satellite team Toro Rosso (2006-2019) which later became AlphaTauri (2020-2023) and finally Racing Bulls (from 2024).
