Bahrain’s Grand Prize for Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing ended in a disaster. It has been clear since Sunday that the RB21 is not at the level of the competition and, in the best case, the third best car is in the field. Ex-formula 1 pilot Martin Brundle therefore expects a big bang behind the scenes.
Something has to change at Red Bull Racing. Otherwise the World Cup train for Max Verstappen may have left before he even left the train station. If the team does not improve the RB21 as soon as possible, it will definitely happen. If even the Dutch, like in Bahrain, has no chance of the podium, let alone victory, the situation is serious.
Ex-formula 1 driver Martin Brundle also sees it, who went hard with the bulls in his “Sky Sports” column.
Brundle: Red Bull could not save himself
“Red Bull could not save himself from a difficult weekend. The car looked difficult to drive. He often had problems slowing it down in all important brake zones around the route,” observed Brundle.
It was only after “endless” that the Dutchman succeeded in finally pushing himself past Pierre Gasly and still saving sixth place, Brundle wrote, who cannot explain the abortion from one race to the next.
“When you consider that the team won the Japan’s Grand Prix only seven days earlier, it is quite confusing,” the TV expert was amazed, who is convinced that it will pop at the internal crisis meeting this week.
“Some serious discussions will be held,” said Brundle.
Red Bull is already 80 points behind McLaren and 22 points behind Mercedes after the first four races of the season after the first four races of the season. In the driver’s ranking, Verstappen has so far been able to limit damage. There he is still in third place with just eight points behind Lando Norris.
