This concerns sections 125 to 129 on the first ring road south. That’s where the hard core is, the F-Side.
Ajax made that decision after Sunday’s fireworks display against FC Groningen. That match was stopped after six minutes after massive fireworks were set off by the F-Side. According to Ajax, many people entered without a ticket by forcing an emergency exit. They had a lot of fireworks with them. The remainder of the match will be played behind closed doors on Tuesday afternoon.
Players and audience in danger
“This decision was taken following the serious incidents from these sections surrounding the abandoned match against FC Groningen, which endangered players and the public and made it impossible to complete the match,” Ajax reports. “In addition, the last training before the match against Feyenoord will take place privately.”
Ajax chooses the match against Feyenoord because, after FC Groningen, that is the Amsterdam team’s next home match. In between, the team of interim coach Fred Grim will visit Fortuna Sittard (Eredivisie) and Qarabag (Champions League).
