Eyewear manufacturer Modo Group takes over Italia Independent

The Italian eyewear label Italia Independent has a new owner. On Tuesday, the US eyewear group Modo Group announced the takeover of the brand. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The company, founded by Italian entrepreneur Lapo Elkann, will take a “new direction” under the umbrella of the Modo Group, it said in a statement. In the future, Italia Independent can “count on a solid corporate structure and a greater presence in international sales”. The Modo Group’s first eyewear collection for the label will be launched in the spring-summer 2024 season, manufactured entirely in Italy and distributed through an “exclusive global network of opticians,” the company said.
