From sorted out to the regular and international: Leon Goretzka made an amazing development this season. It could go even further now.
A contract extension of Leon Goretzka at Bayern is apparently no longer excluded. As the “Sport Bild” reports, an expansion of the working paper will no longer be categorically excluded beyond 2026. However, the prerequisite for this is that Goretzka continues to be convinced and accepted a lower salary. Goretzka currently earns an estimated 17 million euros annually with the German record champion.
Last summer, the 30-year-old was suggested by the club from Munich. But Goretzka stayed, took the fight for a place in the squad and even turned back into a regular player. After strong performance, national coach Julian Nagelsmann even called him back into the DFB squad for the Nation’s League quarter-finals against Italy.
A career for which Goretzka also received praise from record national player Lothar Matthäus: “Leon Goretzka is stable, he definitely deserves to be there again,” he said. “He shows his true character. Passion and fire are always there. The national team needs that.”
According to the report, FC Bayern would like to continue to sort out the midfield. With Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović as well as the Konrad Laimer, which can also be used in right defense, are set. In summer, Tom Bishop will be added, who is hired free of charge from Hoffenheim. In addition to Goretzka, João Palhinha and Raphaël Guerreiro, who was only signed last summer, are also said to be sales candidates.
In an interview with the “Sport Bild”, however, Palhinha himself not to think about a farewell and to prevail in Munich. “I’m not interested in the rumors about a farewell,” he said. “I will do everything to show why the club spent the money for me. I don’t think so to go.”
