The misery for Brobbey started at the end of 2022: Het Parool writes that during the Valhalla festival he was approached by the 31-year-old Amsterdammer Jeymon A. He claimed that ‘Moroccans from Utrecht’ had taken it on the Ajax striker, but that he had already ‘solved’ the problem for him. He then demanded money for that. When Brobbey refused to pay, the situation escalated.

In the months that followed, several explosions took place at homes of family members of Brobbey. For example, heavy fireworks were thrown through the letterbox of his mother -in -law on January 16, 2023. In March a car from the football player was hit by an explosive and in April the car of his sister -in -law was set on fire.

Childhood friend shot

On July 9, 2023, a Brobbey childhood friend was shot down from close by. That friend voluntarily confronted with A. He barely survived. A week later the football player received an app stating that he had to pay 150,000 euros to the criminal: “Otherwise we will do it differently.”

Only after the shooting was Ajax informed of the incidents. But Brobbey did not want to make a declaration. He feared that that would only cause more problems. As a result, the case remained relatively limited within the club: only a part of the staff, management and commissioners were informed.

Jeymon A. gets 10 years in prison for shooting

Although the Public Prosecution Service has not formally charged the extortion of Brobbey, it was part of the criminal file of Jeymon A. In November 2024, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted manslaughter of Brobbey’s childhood friend, which he shot in.

He was also found guilty of possession of weapons and the possession of more than 1.5 kilos of MDMA. This punishment comes on top of an earlier conviction of almost nine years for managing drug rangers.
