Expert reveals transfer dilemma of FC Bayern

With Konrad Laimer (from RB Leipzig) and Raphael Guerreiro (from BVB), FC Bayern has so far lured two stars of the Bundesliga competition to Munich for free. The superstar promised by President Herbert Hainer for the middle of the storm and a world-class six, on the other hand, are a long time coming. An absolute scene insider does not believe in a coincidence.

“One thing is clear: What they won’t or can’t do is sign players like Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham or Harry Kane at the very top. Bayern are choking on that,” quotes “tz” Michael Reschke. “If you can sign a caliber like that in the prime of his career, that would be an exceptional situation.”

Reschke knows only too well what he is talking about. The 65-year-old has already worked in the management level of Bayer Leverkusen, FC Bayern, VfB Stuttgart and FC Schalke 04.

Reschke also explains what is increasingly taking the wind out of FC Bayern’s sails: The Bundesliga simply has too little attraction for the big stars of the scene.

“If FC Bayern were to play in the Premier League, it would certainly be a bit easier on the transfer market,” Reschke speculates. “The Premier League is just a great league, there’s a lot going on on the pitch week after week. A more exciting Bundesliga would certainly help FC Bayern when looking for a player.”

FC Bayern is among the top 10 in Europe

However, the situation of the serial champion of the German football upper house is not hopeless, according to Reschke: “The English league has the greatest appeal, together with Real Madrid and somehow also FC Barcelona. But the fact is also: The Munich team continues to count internationally the top ten clubs in Europe.”

Especially since “very good salaries” are paid on Säbener Strasse and the German record champions continue to be lucrative for “international top players”.

However, it is not enough to be successful in courting world stars à la Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane or, most recently, Declan Rice.
