The mixed competition at this year’s US Open. For me, he then had much more of a show fight than from a serious tournament. Only 16 instead of usually 32 teams. Many of the mixed specialists were not allowed to participate due to their world ranking position and the playful level was then reasonably manageable in many places. Because of course, the superstars did not risk everything to run the risk of violating them on the pitch and then missing the individual competition next week. Speaking of superstars players like Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Algrassi, all of them were consequently excreted in the first round. At least then with the pairing Sara Errani and her partner Andrea Varvasori, the correct mixed gained in my view. Because the two are absolute specialists, are currently the best team in the world and also won the US Open last year. Incidentally, they were only allowed to take part in the event because they received a wildcard from the organizer. So I hope that this form of the mixed competition will not prevail, because that dilks yes and, in my view, devalues a little bit of this event.
