Last weekend Domen Prevc made a historic moment when he only landed in Planica after 254.5 meters and thus set up a new ski jump world record. But did everything go with right things? In Norway they say: maybe not!
The suit, with the Domen Prevc at the weekend at his home World Cup in Planica, made a new ski jump world record, makes headlines in Norway these days. The suspicion: The material that the 25-year-old wore at his historic flight was not entirely compliant.
The occasion of these explosive speculations are TV images from Prevcs jump, on which it can be seen how his suit comes out in an unnatural way both on the back and in the crotch. The online newspaper “Nettavisen” speculates that there was possibly additional material in the suit that gave the Slovenian additional buoyancy.
Has the ski jumping association put an eye on?
“It does not look as if they were followed by the more detailed examination that they should carry out according to the World Cup,” said ex-professional Andreas Stjerne that the suit from PrevC also felt suspiciously. It was “very strange” that Prevc and his team had passed the FIS exam with this suit. “Although it is Slovenia,” the Norwegian even indicated an (illegal) home advantage.
However, and the emphasized stjerne, this is no more than pure speculation. “But it seems to be difficult to beat a home jumper,” he said in a variety of ways.
“You can see how the suit fills with air”
In addition to Stjerne, “Viaplay” expert Petter Tenstad also expressed doubts about Prevcs Suit, which was withstanding the FIS exams throughout the weekend. Already in the qualification on Friday he was amazed at the behavior of the material. “I can’t remember that I’ve seen it before,” he told “Nettavisen”.
He particularly caught the eye of the behavior of the suit immediately after the jump. “You can see how the suit fills with air and almost floated on his back and buttocks like a balloon,” he observed.
Ultimately, however, much more than a personal opinion or assessment of the images could neither deliver stages nor Tenstad. There is no evidence that Prevc has put his world record with a suit that may have too much of a suit.
