Would you like to take a gamble? Then next week you can make your move at the temporary King Colis store in Stadshart Zoetermeer. In this pop-up store with lost packages, you choose what you buy based on weight. The contents of your package are a surprise. Who knows, you might pick up a new notebook or a pair of designer shoes.

At King Colis in the Stadshart, Killian Denis (44) and Alexis Faure (44) sell packages that were lost in the post. They come from companies such as Amazon and European parcel services.

A second life

Every month, 150,000 parcels are ‘lost’ in Europe. According to Killian, they are destroyed because it is not possible to trace the recipient or sender. “That is a waste of both raw materials and products.” That’s why Killian and his friend Alexis decided to give lost packages a second life.

Scoring parcels in Zoetermeer

They do this through pop-ups called King Colis. In Zoetermeer you will find this temporary store from Tuesday January 28 to Sunday February 2 in a building in Driekant street. We are still checking the exact location. The business is open Tuesday to Thursday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, on Friday until 9:00 PM, on Saturday until 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free.

Price per 100 grams

What you pay for packages depends on the weight. For example, a ‘standard’ lost package costs 1.90 euros per hundred grams and a lost package from Amazon costs 2.79 euros per hundred grams.

From sex toys to designer clothing

You will only discover the contents after purchase and can vary from smartwatches to designer clothing. “A woman recently found a gold bar worth 2,000 euros in her package,” says Killian. Sex toys are also often in the boxes, he says. “That is why we think it is important that children open their package together with their parents.”
