It was a special picture this morning in Koksijde. Mayor Sander Loones takes the oath as a new mayor on the beach with a view of the sea. And with a horse fisherman in the background, the typical image of the coastal municipality.

All newly elected mayors must take the oath with governor Carl Decaluwé. Traditionally that happens in the official residence of the governor in Bruges, but this morning there was an exception.

Bernard Quintin Minister of the Interior is today on a working visit to the West Coast. He visits the West Coast police zone and talks to the local police about the problems of transmigrants.
