The aftermath of the corona period, but especially the rising steel prices have put STC Coevorden the tie. Since the war in Ukraine, those prizes rise. That is at least the explanation of the management of the company towards curator Paul van Boven.
The designer and manufacturer of demolition and excavators in Coevorden was declared bankrupt last week. It is therefore an uncertain time for the 34 employees.
Despite the bankruptcy, the work will continue at the company, the curator says. “There are already take -over candidates, so I have a good hope for a restart. That is why it is important that the work continues. The company runs on, but in minimal occupation to reduce costs.”
Curator Van Boven hopes to have good news about the future of the company in Coevorden within a few weeks. “I want to continue and make great strokes this week. But I do have to deal with international customers and foreign law, that makes it a bit more complicated.”
STC designs and makes specialist demolition and excavators and machine parts. As an example, the curator mentions special machines that are used in the construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. That is a tunnel in the Zeestraat between two islands in Denmark and Germany that must be ready in 2029. “For STC this is a million project, so it is important that those work can continue. The company therefore benefits all the more from a rapid restart,” says Paul van Boven.
