The long-term football official experiences a horror in his own house. Now the police are investigating.

Former UEFA President Michel Platini has been the victim of a burglary. Unknowns penetrated his villa in Cassis in southern French and stole numerous awards. This reported the French news agency AFP, citing a source close to the case.

Platini caught the perpetrators in the act on Friday morning. According to reports, they stole around 20 trophies and medals. The police are determined.

The 70-year-old was President of the European Football Union from 2007 to 2015. In December 2015 he was banned by the FIFA Ethics Commission for eight years. The lock was initially shortened by the International Sports Court CAS to six, later to four years.

In his active career as a player, Platini was one of the defining characters of his time. He won the balloon d’Or (1983, 1984, 1985) and in 1985 with Juventus Turin the European Cup of the national champions. He played 72 caps for France and led the team to win the European Championship in 1984.
