The fraud scandal around the Norwegian team is moving more and more circles. Now a former supervisor of the Norwegians unpacked years of manipulation in the past. Specifically, Fredrik Bjerkeengen becomes four years ago for occurrences during the World Cup in Zakopane.

“We stirred wood glue and brushed it onto the jump suit,” said Fredrik Bjerkeengen, former ski jumper and years of supervisor of the Norwegian team, the manipulation during the World Cup in Zakopane 2021 to the Norwegian newspaper “Verdens Gang”.

“It was about making the suit stiffer because it then seems more like a wing that causes buoyancy,” said Bjerkeengen: “The glue became shiny and disappeared. And when we bent down and used it, he gradually dissolved. The suit has passed all tests.”

When asked why he was involved in fraud at the time, the Norwegian replied: “It was the only way to assert himself.”

The Norwegian fraud has its statements. So one would have consciously exploited that the inspectors do not have the capacity to check all material requirements for every jump and jumper.

Ski jumping: Manager Brathen had “large proportion” in the fraud

“Then we talked about how we can move the boundaries with the other things that are probably not controlled,” admits Bjerkeengen.

The fact that Norway’s long -time manager Clas Brede Brathen claims that he does not know about manipulations is another scandal for his former employee.

“He had a large proportion of what happened on the journey. Clas was there when it happened. Something different would be a lie,” said Bjerkeengen.

However, he does not believe that the current situation could lead to a purification in the ski jumping circus: “This culture will stop for a while, and then it will start again.”
