Almost eight years after his farewell as a player from Fürth, Thomas Kleine returns. Now the ex-professional is supposed to save the francs from relegation.
Thomas Kleine is the hope of SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The ex-professional is said to save the Franks from relegation, signed a contract with the second division club until the end of the season, as the club announced on Tuesday. He is supported by Milorad Peković, who had played for the Fürther from 2010 to 2013.
“When the call came, I did not have to think. The cloverleaf was a significant part in my life,” said Kleine, who, as the captain of Fürther in 2012, celebrated the first Bundesliga promotion of the association. He played a total of 255 games for the club. “We are all aware of the challenge, but we have it our hand.”
Two games before the end of the season, the Franks separate three points from the relegation relegation place. His first game as a chief coach is equally explosive for little ones. Because on Sunday he competes with Fürth at Hannover 96, where until recently he had worked as an assistant coach of André Breitenreiter, who was left behind. In the final game of the season, a week later it goes at home against the promotion favorite Hamburger SV.
Sports director Stephan Fürstner said about the signing of the coaching duo: “We are very happy that the two have promised without hesitation. Tommy and Peko went through thick and thin for the cloverleaf.” The two former players know the environment and league and “as players have embodied exactly what we need now in the season’s sprint”.
Fürth separated from Jan Siewert on Monday, who had only succeeded interim coach Leonhard Haas in November. “We are all aware of the challenge, but we have it in our hands,” said the 47-year-old little one.
