He played with Hertha BSC in the Champions League and then became a coach. Then Kjetil Rekdal fought against cancer – with success.
Former Bundesliga professional and current coach Kjetil Rekdal has successfully overcome cancer. “I am considered healthy,” the coach of the Norwegian first division club Aalesund FK told the newspaper “Sunnmörsposten”. The 57-year-old added that there are now various check-up appointments: “I’m in aftercare. The biggest challenge is the mental and physical aspect – how you feel.”
Rekdal’s goal is a gradual return to everyday work: “It’s about slowly but surely getting out and functioning again.” The former Norway international wants to be fully fit again by the training camp in February, when Aalesund prepares for the start of the season in mid-March.
