The former team boss of the Austrian selection Franco Foda will be the national coach in Kosovo. On Saturday, the association presented the former German international, who once managed the second division team 1. FC Kaiserslautern in his home country.

Foda has not held a position as head coach since leaving FC Zurich in September 2022. The stint in Switzerland lasted less than three months and only included 18 games, of which only five were won under Foda. The native of Mainz had better results in Austria, where Foda was also responsible for Sturm Graz before his 48 games as national coach. Foda began his coaching career in Styria and looked after the team as head coach during two terms in almost 400 competitive games.

“It is a great honor for me to work for a country again as a national coach. I’ve been able to prepare well over the last few days and get to know the national team. We first want to be first in the group in the Nations League. After that, our big goal is to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. We will work hard together to achieve this,” said Foda.
