A photo of ex-NFL star Jay Cutler with a shot block antelope causes great excitement. He has great criticism.
A hunting photo of the former NFL star Jay Cutler has triggered violent reactions online. On top of that, Cutler can be seen behind a block antelope lying on the ground, the rifle in his hand. His comment: “Africa hunt opened with a splendid specimen. Rappenantelope killed.”
Especially on Instagram, where Cutler has more than 600,000 followers, the picture caused a wave of outrage. Many users reacted shocked and angry. A user wrote that Cutler killed an animal who had no idea that it was threatened – that was anything but impressive. Another commented that it was a “cruel hobby” and described the act as “heartbreaking”. The criticism ranged from “disgusting” to personal insults.
Cutler himself apparently did not let the comments be put off. Instead of responding to the allegations, he published another video that shows him in hunting – together with friends when celebrating the looted prey.
Celebrities with photos of big game hunts in Africa always ensure controversy. The block antelope (hippo -yield niger), also known as saber antelope, is not on the list of acute threatened species, but is particularly worth protecting in many areas.
