A traditional club is about to climb the 3rd league: Lok Leipzig has secured the title in the Regionalliga Nordost. Now there are two relegation games.

The 1. FC Lok Leipzig did its homework on the last matchday of the Regionalliga Nordost – and can now dream of promotion to the 3rd division. The team of coach Jochen Seitz prevailed 4: 2 (2: 1) at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and thus secured the championship.

Even before the match day, Lok had good cards: three points and six goals lead in front of Halleschen FC meant a comfortable starting point. The purple clearly lost 0: 4 (0: 2) at the Greifswald FC – and was therefore out of the race early.

The decision in favor of the Leipzig team had already been made at halftime. In Greifswald, the HFC was 0: 2 behind by David Voigt (16th, 20th). At that time, Leipzig led 2-1 in Erfurt with a hit by Damian Cevis (12th) and Stefan Maderer (42nd). For red-white Obed Chidindu Ugondu (36th) met for the meantime.

After the break, Halle continued to fall behind. Soufian Benyamina (58th) and Pascal Schmedemann (85th) ensured the highest defeat of the third division relegation this season. In the meantime, Lok made everything clear: Pasqual Verzamp met in the 59th minute, Djamal Ziane increased in the 87th minute with a penalty. Erfurt’s Andy Trübenbach could only shorten the 2: 4 in a penalty (66.).

The Leipziger, who became German champions as VfB 1903, 1906 and 1913, meet the 3rd division on TSV Havelse in the relegation to the 3rd division. The latter won the Tital in the Regionalliga North. The first leg will take place on May 28th in Leipzig, the second leg on June 1st.
