After three years at Udinese Calcio, ex-HSV professional Tolgay Arslan is moving abroad for the first time. The 32-year-old midfielder signed a contract with Australian runners-up Melbourne City FC on Thursday until 2025. The Paderborn native made 37 appearances (one goal) for Udinese Calcio last season.

“I remember when I played for Besiktas in Turkey, I had an inner voice that said, ‘One day I will play in Australia.’ I have three children and as a family we decided to do something new after Udinese. I’m really happy with the decision to come to Australia. For me it was ‘Melbourne or nothing,'” Arslan said. “I have three uncles in Melbourne, so I’ll have a small family here. It sounds like a good family atmosphere at City and I can’t wait to meet all my team-mates and the fans.”
