After relegation from the Eredivisie, Heracles Almelo can rely on a proven force for reconstruction: Former HSV professional Nico-Jan Hoogma is returning to the club as technical director, for which he was already responsible for sporting fortunes from January 2008 to February 2018 . As announced by Heracles, the 53-year-old has signed a four-year contract.
Hoogma announced his departure as sporting director of the Dutch national team in November. He once left Almelo for this post – now he’s going back the same way. After failing to stay up, the club had parted ways with German coach Frank Wormuth, and René Kolmschot took over for the relegation on an interim basis, but without success. The Spaniard Carlos Vicens, most recently assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, is coming on July 1st.
