Ex-Hertha coach Felix Magath confirms job offers

Felix Magath received offers to work as a coach again after the end of his tenure at Hertha BSC a year ago – but not from the Bundesliga.

This was explained by Magath, who will be 70 this Wednesday, in an interview with “kicker” magazine.

The Berliners, who have meanwhile been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga, had been led by Magath in 2022 to remaining in the top flight via relegation against his former club Hamburger SV. After that, his involvement with the capital club ended. “I’ve talked to several national associations about the position as national coach. But things aren’t always professional in the associations. Then I’d rather say: without me,” explained Magath now.

He learned this from his work at Hertha: “I’m absolutely certain that with my knowledge and input I can still help every team in Germany and internationally, in the first, second, third or fourth league.” He would have believed himself capable of developing Hertha BSC in such a way that the club would not only have stayed in the Bundesliga, but would also have climbed up the ranks. However, the Berliners are currently struggling with their economic situation.
