Ex-FC Bayern talent Tillman loses CL first leg with LAFC

Former Bayern talent Timothy Tillman lost the first leg of the North and Central American Champions League with Los Angeles FC.

The reigning US champions lost 2-1 (0-2) at Mexican club Leon – but thanks to a late goal in Sunday’s second leg they still have every chance of winning the CONCACAF premier class title.

Goals from Colombia international William Tesillo (8′) and Ecuadorian striker Angel Mena (45’+5) in the first half did not look good for LAFC for a long time, but Gabon’s Denis Bouanga scored in the sixth minute of injury time coach Steven Cherundolo’s team new hope for the decider in front of their home crowd.

Midfielder Tillman was in the starting lineup. The former German junior international, once celebrated in Munich as the “playmaker of the future” (Sport Bild), moved to his father’s homeland in February. He no longer saw any prospects at Bayern Munich.
