In the summer of 2024, Marco Reus moved to the MLS to Los Angeles Galaxy. Now it’s clear: the ex-BVB star is staying longer.
Former international soccer player Marco Reus has extended his contract with MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy. The 36-year-old midfielder signed a new working paper until December 2027. The California franchise announced this on Saturday.
Reus moved to Los Angeles in August 2024 and has since played 42 competitive games with 22 goals. In his first season he won the championship, but the sporting slump followed in the previous season: With 14th place out of 15 teams in the Western Conference, the club clearly missed the playoffs. In the current season, Reus led the team as captain in two of the first three games.
“Marco brings an incredible level of quality, experience and leadership to our team,” said General Manager Will Kuntz. “His professionalism and high standards motivate everyone around him, and his influence both in the dressing room and on the pitch is immeasurable. We are delighted that he will continue to play such an important role for our club.”
Before moving to Major League Soccer, Reus had played 429 competitive games (170 goals) for Borussia Dortmund and played 109 games (41 goals) for Borussia Mönchengladbach. His previous contract in Los Angeles would have expired at the end of 2026.
