Ex-Bayern star made it clear after leaving: “Enjoy football again”

Ryan Gravenberch didn’t get going at all in what was ultimately his only season at FC Bayern. The Dutchman made it clear in an interview how happy he is to no longer be in Munich.

Ryan Gravenberch has finally closed the FC Bayern chapter. As he did before moving to the German record champions at his training club Ajax Amsterdam, he feels completely at home at Liverpool FC, as he told “TNT Sports”.

He is “enjoying football again,” said the midfielder, who moved to FC Bayern in the summer of 2022 for around 18.5 million euros. His football teacher Jürgen Klopp played the biggest role in this, bringing him to England for at least 40 million euros shortly before the end of the transfer period.

“When I spoke to him, my heart felt warm. Like family. That’s what I missed. I’m very happy that he gave me that feeling,” enthused the 21-year-old.

Even during his time at FC Bayern, Gravenberch had made it clear several times that he was not satisfied with his situation in Munich. Especially under current national coach Julian Nagelsmann, the newcomer hardly got a chance last season. However, he immediately found a “good connection” with Jürgen Klopp.

After Bayern’s farewell: Gravenberch triumphs in the Europa League

The Reds team manager also gives him “confidence” – and, above all, playing minutes. Of the twelve Premier League games that were possible after his move, he was used ten times, although not always from the start or for the entire duration of the game. Nevertheless, Gravenberch is satisfied. “As the minutes go by, the self-confidence comes back.”

The summer newcomer was able to really shine, especially in the Europa League. The central midfielder has already scored two goals and one assist in four games.

Ryan Gravenberch has signed a long-term contract with Liverpool FC until 2028.
