Ex-adviser: Lewandowski “always wanted to go to Spain”

Munich (AP) – Robert Lewandowski’s former adviser Cezary Kucharski is not surprised by a possible departure of the world footballer at FC Bayern Munich to Spain.

“Robert really wants to change and that has been his wish for a long time,” said the Pole at Sport1. “He needs something new, a new challenge. The Bayern bosses have known since they started working with Robert that he always wanted to go to Spain.” Kucharski had looked after Lewandowski for ten years, and the striker switched to advisor Pini Zahavi four years ago.

According to media reports, Lewandowski is said to have informed the club bosses of the German record champions that he does not want to extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2023. The striker reportedly wants to join FC Barcelona after this season.

“I understand that Robert wants to move because when we started working together in 2008, we planned to change clubs every few years,” said Kucharski. “He has achieved everything with Bayern and now is a good moment for a new goal.” Spain was always “top goal” for Lewandowski “and then the USA for the end of his career”.
