Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe, the men of Even Tot Hier, can distribute well but not always collect very well. Who has bothered them the most in their career? “Micha Wertheim!”
You often see it with people who are very good at distributing money: somehow, collecting is less successful, and that is of course a bit embarrassing. The men of Even Tot Hier have kept that bad quality publicly hidden all this time, but on de Volkskrant they now reveal that they do indeed have long toes.
‘Leave me alone!’
Niels and Jeroen say they read the responses to their broadcasts as little as possible. “Because we really have very long toes,” says Niels.
His buddy Jeroen said: “Especially when we are in the middle of the season. Every week it is a new pressure cooker. Then I am not the nicest person on earth, I don’t want to be distracted by people who are angry or think I am stupid. Leave me alone.”
Pissed off at Micha
When the Volkskrant asks for an example of ‘where those long toes were stepped on’, both say in unison: “Micha!”
Niels then: “Micha Wertheim once wrote a column in your newspaper that really hurt.”
Jeroen: “It was at the very beginning, the second episode of Even tot hier, he tormented us.”
Sarcasm
That part really hurt, according to Niels. “Insert the sarcasm. ‘How nice it is! How happy we as a country can be with this program!’ And that from someone we knew somewhat, whose performances we had seen, in the newspaper we read. Gosh, I thought for a moment, it’s apparently completely wrong.”
And, in retrospect, did he have a point? Jeroen: “Well, I actually thought that wasn’t too bad.”
