Netty and Piet can still get rid of that time a lot. “We didn’t see much of the village, because we were actually quite far outside,” Netty explains. “I went to primary school twice, I think, not more often.”

That was not easy for the Hummel family. “There was no car at that time, so yes, where did you actually go?”, Says Netty. Brother Piet can still remember that they have been both birthday. “I turned six and she was eight, that always stays with me.”

And what it was like to be taken care of together in Drenthe? “That just went”, Piet continues. “Fortunately I and my sister got along well and still now,” he jokes. Over the years they have regularly visited Drenthe.

Today is special for both. “That is quite special that you can experience something like that. And I didn’t have any pictures of the tree yet, I am very happy that I can still see this,” says Netty.
