Eva and Rick from Purmerend distraught: street dog brought from Spain has been missing for days

Eva and her friend Rick have been missing their seven-month-old puppy named Paco for days. A young street dog that they took with them to the Netherlands after a tour in Spain. They had just been home in Purmerend for a week when the dog broke loose.

As a child they were so happy with their puppy Paco. The last two months of their long tour in Spain, they decided to adopt the dog from the shelter. “We had been traveling in Spain with our motorhome for about a year when we came across this dog in Andalusia,” says Eva. “A stubborn, fun, wild dog.”

Many street dogs in Spain

In Spain, many dogs roam the streets. And so Eva and Rick decided to give a puppy a second chance. They traveled around with Paco for two months. Just a week at home in the Singelbuurt, in Purmerend things went wrong. “We walked on the beach with him or walked in the woods. But on Wednesday around three o’clock it was all wrong. He sprints to the fenced field right in front of our front door and has not been seen since. So he has a taken another turn.”

Fortunately, experts have told Eva and Rick that stray dogs can survive for quite a long time. They have a certain flight mode and can hide well in nature for a long time. “We have a lot of woods and meadows here in the area,” says Eva, “where there aren’t many people every day. He probably found a way to whirl around there.”

Full of hormones

The latter, according to Eva, is because the seven-month-old young puppy will now quickly run away from people. “He naturally likes to be around people and other dogs, but he seems to be in a different mode now. It’s waiting for him to make a mistake, to meet people.”

“Hopefully Paco can keep himself alive for a while”

Eve

“Fortunately, he is full of hormones and he may be looking for young birds and mice and he may drink from streams. That way he can keep himself alive for a while.”

“We are concerned and hope that he will return soon,” Eva continues. That is why she and her boyfriend have urged friends, family and volunteers via Facebook and other social media to help search. “In recent days, that has not yielded anything. Today we will go back into the woods, hope that he will be found soon.”

Anyone who thinks they see the dog is best contacted Dog Search. Advice is not to catch or call the dog yourself, but to call the organization of Dog Search.
