At the initiative of Dutch minister Dirk Beljaarts (Economic Affairs), nine countries have agreed to strengthen the European semiconductor industry. The ministers of Belgium, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and Spain today have the so -called Semicon Coalition set up. The cooperation focuses on extra innovation, expanding the European position to other parts in the value chain and bringing technology to the market faster.

Semi -conductors are a building block for almost all business processes, devices, machines and consumer products. Strengthening the European position in this chain is not only an economic priority, but also a strategic need for the preservation of prosperity and safety, the nine countries say. Better cooperation also helps to improve European autonomy, resilience and earning capacity. Goals of the coalition include expanding production capacity within the EU and the even further strengthening of current European world players in the semiconductor value chain. The initiative of the nine countries also responds to the global increase in government investments in the sector.
