Status: 08/13/2022 12:02 p.m

First German medal in the para rowing competitions of the European Championships: Manuela Diening won silver in the women’s single. There was also precious metal for the men’s foursome.

The RV Munster athlete lost out to Norway’s Birgit Skarstein, but prevailed against Ukraine’s Anna Sheremet, who won bronze. Diening was nominated for the European Championships for the first time in 2021, when he took 5th place. So now there was precious metal for the 30-year-old for the first time.

Foursome wins silver behind Italy

There was also silver for the German men’s four, which was already certain before the start. The reason: With Italy you had only one opposing boat, against which you had already competed the day before in the course distribution race. And just like the day before, the Italian athletes provided the faster boat in the final run and won the gold medal.

The first medals had previously been distributed in the individual competitions. Italy’s Giacomo Perini won the men’s gold, and silver went to Paralympic champion Roman Polianski from the Ukraine. Third: Benjamin Pritchard of Great Britain.
