Status: 08/14/2022 11:21 a.m

In the bouldering semi-final, the German Hannah Meul confirmed her top form from the qualification and qualified for the final in the afternoon.

The second German starter, Alma Bestvater, clearly missed the finals.

Meul starts strong, Bestvater with bad luck

Hannah Meul made the start from a German point of view. And what a! The 21-year-old reached the top on the very first boulder and only needed two attempts. She received a rating of 24.9 points for this.

The second German starter just barely missed this feat. Because Alma Bestvater already had one hand at the top, but couldn’t hold the position long enough. The second attempt also looked promising, but in the end Bestvater, who was celebrating her comeback at the European Championships after two protracted injuries, ran out of time. For reaching the zone, she received a score of three points.

Unfortunately, Bestvater didn’t fare any better on the second and third boulder. Without further evaluation she went to the fourth and last boulder. Here she reached the zone again and concluded the semifinals with a total of six points. With that, the dream of a final was shattered, because only the top six made it into the final round in the afternoon (4:00 p.m.).

Meul Best in the semifinals

Hannah Meul, who climbed a strong competition and reached three out of four tops, will be there. With this performance, the Frechener was second best in the entire semi-final field and is going into the final at Königsplatz with hopes of a medal. The victory should only go to the top favorite Janja Garnbret. In the semifinals she topped all four boulders.
