Tottenham Hotspur separated a good two weeks after winning the Europa League from coach Ver Postecoglou. The English club announced this on its website.
“It will always be remembered as the third coach in our history who won a European title,” it said. “However, the board has unanimously concluded that there is a change in the best interest of the association.”

With the Australian coach, Tottenham had won a title for the first time in 17 years. The Spurs prevailed 1-0 against the league rival Manchester United in the final of the Europa League. In the Premier League, however, the team had completed a disastrous playing time and ended up in 17th place – a place in front of the relegation zone.
With 22 defeats in 38 games, it was the worst premier League season in club history. By winning the Europa League, the team qualified for the Champions League.
Postecoglou, who came from Celtic Glasgow two years ago, had recently emphasized that he would like to continue. Who would be his successor was initially open.
