EU antitrust proceedings: Gucci premises searched

European Commission investigators have conducted a search of Gucci’s premises in Italy as part of an investigation into alleged anti-competitive practices, Gucci parent company Kering and the European Commission said on Wednesday.

Kering explained that it "is fully cooperating with the Commission in this investigation" adding that inspections started on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the European Commission said its teams are conducting unannounced reviews "at the premises of companies active in the fashion sector in several Member States" would have performed.

The EU Commission acts as the responsible antitrust authority and is investigating the allegations that the companies have violated the competition rules of the European Union.

If a company is found guilty of antitrust violations, it faces high fines. However, the company can be granted impunity if it cooperates with the Commission and rectifies its conduct.

Kering, the second largest luxury group in the world, also owns the fashion houses Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. (AFP)
