Defending champion Umut Gültekin narrowly missed another triumph in the Grand Final of the Virtual Bundesliga for the German individual championship in the football simulation FIFA 22.
At the final weekend in Cologne, the 19-year-old clearly lost the new edition of last year’s cross-console final against his national team colleague Dylan Neuhausen 0:5. “DullenMIKE” secured the prize money of 40,000 euros.
Gültekin (RB Leipzig) clearly defeated Jamie Bartel 6:1 (2:0, 4:1) in the semifinals on Playstation 5, Neuhausen (SC Freiburg) was 3:1 (2:1, 1:0) against Levy Finn Rieck (Hansa Rostock). A total of 32 professionals competed for a prize pool of 100,000 euros on Saturday and Sunday.
In the event of another triumph, Gültekin could have been the first player to be crowned champion for the second time in a row. With Leipzig he had won the German club championship at the end of March.
