Espanyol come back for an epic victory against Amorebieta

He Spanish came back from 0-2 against him in the second half Amorebieta in it Stage Front Stadium thanks to a bit of calero right at the restart and, later, with a target by Salvi Sánchez, in minute 78, and another by Calero himself, in minute 81.

The Basque team, despite local control, dealt a hard blow to the host by taking the lead in the last six minutes of the first half, with goals from Eraso and Álvaro Núñez. Even so, the push from the Catalans at the restart completely changed the duel and allowed the parakeets to continue in the upper zone.

Espanyol’s dominance was clear in the early stages, creating danger with several crosses from the wing that were not connected by millimeters. In addition, in the 20th minute, the referee annulled a goal by Puado for offside. Only the change of Brian Oliván due to injury in minute 23 interrupted the monologue.

Amorebieta, with less self-confidence, was not as incisive in Pacheco’s domain, although the host did not specify his greatest offensive role either. The Catalans did, yes, merits: Nico Melamed examined the reflexes of Pablo Campos in minute 33 with a whiplash from the front.

When it seemed that the goal for the blue and whites was about to fall, the Basque team took the lead. In the 43rd minute and after a loss in the midfield, Rayco assisted Eraso and he caressed the ball to make it 0-1, a target that went up on the scoreboard after going through the VAR filter.

Start of reaction

With Espanyol still recovering from the blow and half-time so close, Álvaro Núñez caused an earthquake in stoppage time. The footballer overcame two defenders and adjusted the shot, close to the post. The 0-2 redrew the duel for the second half.

Espanyol reacted quickly at the restart. It took Calero six minutes to see the goal when he headed in a cross from Nico Melamed. Luis García took the opportunity to refresh the team with Salvi Sánchez and Braithwaite. After a few minutes, the Dane centered a shot from the first that showed the parakeet hunger.

Amorebieta, ahead on the scoreboard, minimized their risks at the Stage Front Stadium. The Catalans now had the ball. They played easily in the midfield and looked for their opportunity to restart the clash. The prize for insistence was collected by Salvi Sánchez in 1978.

The man from Cádiz came from the second line to tie the match and ignite the parakeet feud. It was the moment of Espanyol. In the 81st minute, and with suspense after consulting with the VAR, Calero secured his second goal with his head and completed the comeback (3-2). There were no more surprises.
