A loose deer deer kept the minds on Monday in Best. The beast ran over the road and a roundabout and ended up in the water. The striking appearance has been recorded by several people. The deer slept by a veterinarian at the end of the day.
According to the Brabant Landscape, the red deer does not come from the Groene Woud nature reserve where these animals occur. According to the nature organization, the deer escaped with someone who kept the animal at home.
Nicky Boleij saw the big deer swimming past the window during her work. She had to blink twice with her eyes and her colleagues pointed to the animal.

“It did give some consternation, especially when the fire brigade joined and with five men lay down on the deer to keep it under control,” says Nicky. “You saw that he was in a panic. It was pretty pathetic to see.”

Local resident Huub Kuipers was also impressed by the red deer. He saw him swimming in the water. “He spent at least 45 minutes in the cold water. When all the fire brigade came to it, I left. I couldn’t really see the animal suffering.”
The municipality of Best has announced that the deer has fallen asleep by a veterinarian, after it had previously been taken out of the water by firefighters.
