Escape from Shakespeare’s world? That is possible from today in Wittelte

Actors from the Shakespeare Theater in Diever are trying to escape this afternoon from the world of the British playwright. The new Shakespeare escape room is officially opened in Wittelte.

Eighteen months ago, the world looked a lot less rosy for the Pot family, owners of Escaperoom Drenthe. The family was in conflict with the municipality of Westerveld, which forced them to close the attraction for three to four months at the beginning of 2022. The family would not have a permit to organize side activities at their company.

All advertisements and escape room activities therefore had to be suspended until the family received a call from the municipality around Easter last year in which they were given permission to open the doors of the escape room again.

“An unpleasant period for my parents,” says Jolte Pot, son of owners Harm and Emma. “But because of corona and a long vacation from my parents, the period was suitable to be closed for a few months.”

The conflict with the municipality is over and the Pot family now has all the necessary permits. “Last year we received a phone call the day after Easter that the letter with mandatory closure could not be regarded as sent, the escape room immediately reopened,” says Jolte Pot.
