More than a decade without a new erykah Badu record. This is already a house number. But the long time without a new song collection by the expressive singer will soon be over. Like Badu, which is hardly inactive, confirmed in an interview with “Billboard”, a new LP will soon be released.
The 54-year-old confirmed that production was already running and that she is currently playing a song in the studio after the next. The album alone is produced by The Alchemist, who has already supported Kendrick Lamar, NAS and Snoop Dogg’s work in the past.
While there is still no title for the new recording, Badu explained why so much time passed between the albums. “I have been on tour eight months a year in the past 25 years. This is just my job. I am a performance artist. I am not a recording artist. I come from the theater.”

However, the live moments are also the reason why she has become a musician: “I am driven by the immediate reaction between me and the audience and the immediate feeling, which follows. The point at which you yourself become a lively, breathing organism with people. That is what I live for. It is my therapy. And for my fans too. We do it together. And I like it only once.”
