(toskanews) — Ermal Meta returns to the race at Sanremo Festival among the Bigs of the 76th edition with the song Little staran important song, of resistance and hope, despite everything.
Little star It tells, through a poetic, never rhetorical text and highly evocative images, the story of a Palestinian girl who deliberately does not have a name, thus becoming a representation of all the innocent children affected by violence. «Little star it’s about a little girl from Gaza seen through the eyes of one of her compatriots. It was born in a moment like many others in which I was playing, singing, inventing songs and melodies for the my little daughter and then some truly shocking images remained in my mind that I had seen a few hours earlier, the images that came from Gaza. I took that melody, the one I had invented a few hours earlier to play with my daughter, and I made a song out of it” says Ermal, who however clarifies that it is not a political song.
«It’s a human song. It is a song that takes as its reference not politics, but the brutality of the human being. And it tells of an extremely fragile being, like a little girl, it goes beyond politics. Politics is the service of man. Man is not the service of politics. So defining a song as political is like doing it an injustice, it’s reducing it. Instead it must be expanded.”
The Middle Eastern sounds that characterize the production curated by Ermal and Dardusttransport us immediately to that part of the world, also thanks to the skilful use of tools such asoud which help to define a sound system consistent with the story, strengthening its emotional impact.
For the singer-songwriter, Sanremo is «Everything together, except expectations. Because I’m not someone who sees expectations in it, but yes, memories, a lot of anxiety, even fun moments, great, great and unexpected satisfactions.” For you, is this a stage that needs to be respected? «For me it’s a sacred stageyes, it must be absolutely respected.”
